2011 OSIA MARCONI AWARD GOES TO FRANK J. DE SANTIS

The Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA) will honor Frank J. DeSantis with the Marconi, named after the creator of the radio and the first wireless communication.

DeSantis receives the award for his significant contributions and achievements.

He and wife Eileen live in Villa Park, California; they have five children and five granddaughters.

DeSantis has been active in OSIA for much of his adult life. He was elected the 26 th National President of OSIA, on August 26, 1997, at OSIA’s 45 th Biennial National Convention.

Born the son of Italian immigrants in Easton, Pennsylvania, DeSantis has successfully established several businesses and managed non-profit organizations. He retired in September, 1997 from Harbor-UCLA Research and Education Institute (REI) in Torrance, California, a non-profit corporation affiliated with the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he served as CEO and President for 35 years. He serves today on the board of Medical Association Management Company (MAMCO), which he founded in 1972, providing professional financial management, educational, membership and convention services to non-profit associations. He has served as the Executive Director of the Western Section American Urological Association since 1965, a position he holds today.
